Natural Rough and Untreated CUT 9.3oz or 263.65 Grams Beautiful Chrysocolla Gem Silica.
Gem Silica is one of the more desirable varieties of Chalcedony that's colored blue or green by copper bearing minerals or inclusions (Impurities) often being Chrysocolla. Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper bearing silicate. Copper in it's oxidized state contributes to the striking turquoise-blue/green colors. Chalcedony is primarily silicon dioxide and in its natural form Chalcedony is generally colorless, white, or grayish. When copper bearing minerals interact with silica during formation, copper can be associated with the developing Chalcedony (turning the stone turquoise- blue/green) from the chemical environment surrounding the metal atoms, their oxidation states, and the wavelengths of light absorbed. Light penetrates all throughout the stone in every area, pointing towards a copper colored Chalcedony rather than light simply passing through a thin translucent layer over an opaque mineral.
Another element that makes this specimen unique are the light blue crystalline translucent quartz crystal growth clusters growing on the rough matrix which represents a later generation of mineral growth after the fact.
