Autographed letter signed by Christopher Morley on May 14, 1931 \"Dear Burton\" a total slam on the business of signing autographs, possibly on request. He comments on that same time consuming effort for others including the Lindberghs (Charles and Anne), the Hoovers (President and First Lady). 8.5 x 11 inch personal letterhead in very good condition some edge toning, folds from mailing. Christopher Darlington Morley(May 5, 1890 – March 28, 1957) was an American journalist, novelist, essayist and poet.He also produced stage productions for a few years and gave college lectures.Morley was the author of Kitty Foyle (1939), which was made into an Oscar winning movie in 1940.Author of more than 100 novels, books of essays, and volumes of poetry, Morley is probably best known today for his first two novels, Parnassus on Wheels (1919) and The Haunted Bookshop (1919).He was also one of the founders and editors of the Saturday Review of Literature , one of the first judges for the Book-of the Month Club and author of more than 100 essay and poetry collections and novels, including Parnassus on Wheels (1917) and Thunder on the Left (1925). Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.A truly historical piece from the literary world.For most of Morley\'s life, he lived in Roslyn Estates, Nassau County, Long Island. Store item code MJBCSR.
