Seller\'s description:This 130ml capacity (approximately 4.4 fluid ounce) Gaiwan has an easy-pour lid with strainer holes and makes it easy for beginners to learn Gong Fu / Kung Fu style brewing with a gaiwan. It has been used fewer than half a dozen times. There are two tiny spots in the rim of the base that appear to have occured during manufacturing and have no effect on function. They were present as-received and the current owner has taken great care with it since acquiring it from Mei Leaf (London, UK). Variation in exterior finish, crazing of glaze, etc. are natural features of the process used to create this piece.
See photos for detail and scale, US quarter (not included in the sale) for size reference.
Adapted from Mei Leaf\'s original description:
Easy Gaiwan style method, without having to balance a tilted lid. This issimilar to a houhin and lets you hold the lid securely while filtering your tea through the 15 holes in the rim of the lid itself. Made of thick porcelain for great heat retention. The glaze is speckled and textured for individual character, continuing inside the bowl with a craquelure glaze and gradient of colours.
