Canadian National Railroad Lock w/ Chain No Key AS-IS For Sale

Offered here is a vintage CNR / Canadian National Railways steel railroad lock with its original-style attached chain.

The front keyway shutter is marked CNR, identifying it with Canadian National Railways. This heavy riveted steel construction is characteristic of railroad switch/equipment locks made for hard service. Similar CNR examples are found with long steel \"spike\" chains and are collectible pieces of Canadian railroadiana.

Important condition details:

• NO KEY
• Shackle is currently closed
• Locking mechanism has not been tested with a key
• Keyway/dust shutter does not spring back into position
• The shutter can be moved manually
• Based on its behavior, the internal shutter spring appears to have slipped or shifted.
• Attached heavy steel chain is present
• Original aged surface with rust, oxidation, scratches, staining, and patina
