Description & History
Camillus Cutlery Company of Camillus, New York, was one of America’s oldest and most important knife makers. In 1991 Camillus acquired the historic Western brand, combining two legendary USA manufacturers. The “Free Hunters” line was produced in the final years before Camillus closed its doors in 2007.
After the company declared bankruptcy, large quantities of unfinished and unreleased inventory were sold at sale. Distributors acquired these factory-fresh knives, many of which had developed the distinctive dark warehouse staining while sitting in damp storage. This WC003 upswept skinner is one of those authentic late Camillus-Western surplus pieces — a true end-of-an-era American-made hunting knife.
