Here is a great little 13 piece collection of Chinese items left behind by workers on the Central Pacific Railroad in Nevada during the construction 1867-1869. These items were found on private property (with owners permission) in Northern Nevada. Remnants of a tracklayers camp, these camps set up every few miles, and moved often as the Transcontinental line was built quickly across the high desert of Nevada and Utah. Joining with the U.P.R.R. in 1869.

The Chinese workers for the CPRR were constantly supplied with their preferred items from the homeland. San Francisco importersdid a tremendous amount of business and many types of glazed pots and other containers have been found wherever the Chinese road builders set up camp. They are typically called bean pots or soy sauce pots, but they held hundreds of different items of preference.
