Bungalow Cafe Dearborn Michigan Shenango China Dinner Plate 1951
Offered for your consideration is a very rare 1948 top logo 9 3/16\" wide china dinner plate made for the Bungalow Cafe that was located in Dearborn, Michigan - established in 1925 and a slogan: \"So Little More For The Best.\"
This is a pattern that does not surface that often; especially, in the rare dinner plate made by Shenango. The establishment was never that big (could only seat 90 dinners) and artifacts from the cafe are seldom seen.

Historically, the Bungalow Cafe opened in 1925 in Dearborn, Michigan. It quickly became a very popular place for fine foods and wonderful service. Its main dining room could only serve up to 90 persons. The cafe was decorated wonderfully with garden scenes of plants and other floral decorations.
Located at 22117 Michigan Street and just directly across the street from the Bryant Library, the restaurant also became noted for its deep dish chicken pie, home baked pies, homemade ice cream, and it. Smorgasbord Sundays. The cafe was also showed in the 1959\"Duncan Hines Adventures in Good Eating\" giving it a wonderful review.\"No Liquor Served - Just Good Food\" was one of their main advertising slogans.
The green and brown highly detailed top logo features a bungalow type house in the center with the wording “So Little More for the Best” across the top and has “Bungalow Café – Dearborn – Established Since 1925”.The plate was made by Shenango China Co. of New Castle Pennsylvania and is their RimRol type plate with the 1948 era green Indian backstamp.There is a datecode on the back that reads N-9 (for 1951).The outer boarder of the plate on the front looks great with brown floral ribbons and bows.
This plate would have been used in connection with the Bungalow Cafe hotel silver soldered - silver plate and glassware type serving items for table, booth, and counter service. It is the heavyweight type steamship, lunch counter - diner, and railroad china.
