For sale is an exceptional, pristine copy of Bruce Conner’s historic 1981 conceptual art ephemera piece titled "Double Award." This piece documenting Conner's legal victory over the Braunstein/Quay Gallery remains housed in its original plastic sleeve with the original red "I AM BRUCE CONNER" pin fully intact.
Provenance & Unique Markers:
* Direct Provenance: Sourced from an estate closely and directly linked to art historian and artist Kristine Stiles. Stiles was the central performer who wore a business suit to hand-distribute these exact packages at the Braunstein/Quay Gallery’s 20th-anniversary party before being famously escorted out.
* Authentic Verso Handstamp: The reverse side of the blue handbill features the original, crisp ink handstamp reading: "FOR DEPOSIT ONLY TO THE ACCOUNT OF BRUCE CONNER."
* Dated Pin: The reverse of the intact red promotional pin is neatly hand-dated "3/30/83".
Condition: Excellent, untouched vintage condition inside the original sleeve. A museum-grade example of Bay Area conceptual art history with ironclad, performance-linked provenance.
