Bob Hope’s 1960 Christmas tour was part of his annual USO tradition of visiting American military bases around the world. In December 1960, one of his stops was Naval Base Guantanamo Bay (GTMO) — at that time a tense Cold War outpost just months before the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
