Bob Eggleton (born 1960) is an acclaimed American artist best known for his spectacular science-fiction, fantasy, and horror paintings. Beginning his professional career in the 1980s, Eggleton quickly became a sought-after illustrator for book covers, magazines, and genre publications, developing a distinctive style characterized by dramatic compositions, vivid color, and extraordinary detail. He has received numerous honors for his work, including nine Hugo Awards for Best Professional Artist and multiple Chesley Awards. A lifelong fan of monsters and science fiction, Eggleton is known for his dragon illustrations as well as for Star Trek, Magic: The Gathering, and H.P. Lovecraft work. He has made Godzilla a particularly important part of his career, having illustrated numerous Godzilla books and comics, including work for Dark Horse, Random House, and IDW, as well as Godzilla-related magazines and merchandise. His dynamic portrayals have helped establish him as one of the most recognizable American artists associated with the King of the Monsters.
