Offered for sale is a beautiful, signed blackware pottery bowl by acclaimed San Ildefonso Pueblo artist Crucita Gonzales Calabaza (1921–1999), widely known by her artist name, Blue Corn. This distinctive bowl tells a unified story of the natural world where mountain peaks meet the wind, birds, and prayers for rain.
This striking bowl features a rounded body with a defined shoulder, gently sloping sides, and wide opening. Its richly polished black surface is complemented by a continuous band of contrasting matte geometric decoration. The decorative band incorporates stepped chevrons, angular forms, and parallel lines reminiscent of traditional Pueblo design elements.
