Large natural beach-found rock collected on Long Island, New York.
This is a substantial softball-sized specimen with beautiful natural colors including shades of red, olive green, tan, cream, and translucent quartz. It has been naturally polished by years of wave action, giving it an attractive smooth surface while retaining interesting natural cavities and texture.
Based on its appearance, I believe this specimen could be one of two related rock types:
* Brecciated Jasper (Silicified Breccia with Quartz)
* Quartz-Rich Conglomerate (Puddingstone)
The rock contains numerous visible quartz fragments and colorful mineral-rich matrix, making it an excellent display piece for collectors of natural stone, glacial erratics, beach finds, lapidary material, or decorative mineral specimens.
I am not a geologist, so the identification above is my best assessment based on appearance and research. Please review all photographs carefully and make your own determination regarding the exact identification before purchasing.
