Authentic tribal art - 2 Lega masks - excellent provenance For Sale

Old Lega idimu mask (approximately 12 inches tall) previously in the private collection of Carl Provost. Carl (1931-1994) worked in Kinshasha, Congo in the 1960s and later became a noted appraiser and dealer. He was a contributor to African Arts journal and the author of the book “The Valuation of Traditional Art” This lot will be accompanied by a photograph of Provost’s home taken in 1970. The same photograph was included on the Christie’s Paris 2013 catalogue relating to another Provost Lega mask. Second mask is 14 inches tall. Ex Sothebys 2001. Provenance is extremely important in tribal art. These masks are great for beginner or mid-level collector.
