Adjacent hallmarks include the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard’s head for the London Assay Office, and the date letter “S” in a rounded‑corner square punch, denoting the assay year 1953. These marks are crispand fully legible.
The jewel is suspended from its original black ribbon and gilt mount, the jewel is in excellent condition, the ribbon has some wear and the gold has tarnish. The piece displays beautifully and is of a quality suitable for advanced collectors of Masonic regalia,British silver, or fraternal orders.
This is an outstanding example of a silver‑gilt Knight of Malta jewel, combining fine craftsmanship, completehallmarks, and exceptional preservation. Mid‑century Malta jewels of this caliber are increasingly scarce, particularly those retaining their original finish and ribbon.
