On offer is a pair of 18th century Continental pewter candlesticks, probably German, each with a mark showing a date of 1777 and initials "A I", along with a crude early owner’s monogram, “I W”. These candlesticks measure about 7 inches tall, with a base width of about 4-1/8 inches. Each weighs about 11 ounces.
As shown in the photos, these candlesticks show the expected age-related wear and patina. Both candlecups show a bit of denting/damage at the rim. One candlestick has a small (1/4-inch) crack in its base, which is barely noticeable; the base’s edge is slightly dented at that location.
Overall two very handsome pieces, in an unusually good state of preservation given the fragility of pewter and how unusual it is to find a true pair of candlesticks of this age.
Satisfaction guaranteed: Any dissatisfied purchaser may return the candlesticks for a full refund.
