A spectacular and highly decorative late 19th-century adjustable piano or parlor floor lamp, probably manufactured by Bradley & Hubbard Manufacturing Co. of Meriden, Connecticut, circa 1891.
This elaborate lamp combines mixed metals, richly figured onyx, figural decoration and an integral two-tier table — an especially impressive example of Victorian lighting.
The globular cast-metal font holder is particularly beautiful, with deeply detailed openwork scroll, floral and cherub/putti decoration. The drop-in brass font has an ornate shoulder and side-refill feature; the original refill cap is embossed “B & H,” supporting the Bradley & Hubbard attribution.
The lamp rises on an ornate spiral-ribbed central column mounted within a rectangular four-legged table. Each corner is supported by a slender ribbed leg terminating in an elaborate stylized paw foot. The upper and lower tiers are fitted with oval onyx/marble slabs displaying lovely natural cream, gray and warm brown/orange coloration.
Especially attractive are the four small onyx ornaments mounted at the corners of the upper table, each set into ornate metal fittings.
The undersides of the onyx retain paper retailer labels reading:
“WM. H. SAXTON / 30 E. BALTO. STREET, BALTIMORE MD”
The central shaft was designed to adjust in height. The securing mechanism is present but is presently non-working and does not lock securely; stable and secure as fixed at this height.
The lamp retains an electrified slip burner and has been converted from its original kerosene/oil-burning configuration to electricity. It is currently in working electrical condition.

Condition:
Very good antique condition overall with expected wear consistent with age and use. The onyx has some expected minor flakes/roughness. The original burner has alterations and missing components associated with its conversion to electricity. The chimney and yellow glass shade are replacements and not included - for display only. This lamp deserves a spectacular cherub embossed shade.

An extraordinary late-Victorian statement piece — part antique lighting, part occasional table and part sculpture.
