Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic antique porcelain handled bonbon/sweetmeat basket crafted by the renowned German manufacturer Zeh, Scherzer & Co. (ZS & Co.) in Rehau, Bavaria. Based on the specific green underglaze factory backstamp (\"Z.S.&C co\" over a wavy line and \"BAVARIA\"), this piece dates precisely between 1880 and 1918.
This delicate Edwardian/Victorian-era parlor piece features an elegant four-part mainly oval base that flares upward and outward. It is beautifully decorated on both the front and back with clusters of romantic pink roses and lush greenery. The front side features a stunning, personalized gold gilt monogram of the letter \"M\" layered over the roses. The piece is finished with bright gold trim wrapping around the base, the top scalloped edge, and the top handle.
Dimensions:
• Height: Approximately 3 inches (including handle)
• Length: 5 inches at the top rim
• Width: 4 inches at the top rim
Condition:
The basket is in Excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, structural repairs, or hairline fractures. The porcelain remains bright and structurally perfect. Because it is well over a century old, it shows very minor, expected antique wear to the overglaze gold gilt:
• Faint, slight wear on sections of the top rim\'s gold trim.
• Minor wear on the top of the handle from historic handling.
• One small, faint worn spot (roughly a 2 mm circle) toward the underside of the handle.
Please review all photographs closely, as they serve as an integral part of the condition description. This is a gorgeous, feminine addition to any German porcelain collection or a wonderful gift for someone who treasures the initial \"M\"!
