This item is an antique "Yankee" outside spring caliper made to the design Charles Fay developed in the mid-1880s. One leg is stamped "YANKEE" and the other "PATENTED JUNE 2 1885." It has a ring-style spring head with a domed pivot. A cross bar with riveted ends spans the legs, and the adjusting screw has a knurled nut. The legs are S-curved with inward-turned tips. It measures approximately 3½ inches. It has not been tested for accuracy. Item specifics: replace and add these lines - Size: Approx. 3½ in.
