Offered is an authentic early example of Wright’s Condensed Smoke, produced by The E.H. Wright Co., Kansas City, Missouri — one of the earliest commercial “liquid smoke” products marketed in the United States.

This heavy amber square bottle retains its original full wrap paper label, advertising Wright’s revolutionary process of distilling wood smoke into liquid form for preserving and flavoring meat. The label includes extensive period text describing usage, curing instructions, and a remarkable printed excerpt referencing a Federal Court ruling upholding the product’s legitimacy — a rare survival feature seldom seen intact.

Wright’s Condensed Smoke represents an important chapter in early American food preservation and commercial smoke flavoring, bridging traditional smokehouse practices with industrial chemistry and mass distribution in the late 19th to early 20th century.

Bottle form is the classic squared condiment shape with applied lip and thick base, manufactured in amber glass to protect contents from light exposure.
