Striking antique/vintage cast metal architectural appliqué depicting Nike, the Winged Goddess of Victory, flying forward with a laurel wreath extended in her hands to crown a victor or athlete.
Beautiful classical detailing throughout, including large feathered wings, flowing drapery, detailed facial features and an openwork laurel wreath. The reverse retains two old mounting studs, indicating this piece was originally mounted to a larger plaque, architectural feature, trophy display or institutional decorative element.
An old handwritten note attached to the reverse identifies the subject as the “Goddess of Victory” placing a wreath on an athlete.
Likely early 20th century, approximately 1900–1940. Classical Revival / Beaux-Arts styling.
Approximately 20 inches long based on photos—please use your final exact measurements in the listing.
Original dark/blackened finish with age-related surface wear, oxidation and patina. Rough original cast surface visible on reverse. No maker’s mark observed. Wonderful as architectural salvage, wall décor, athletic memorabilia, trophy-room décor or classical art display.
