This antique divided-back era postcard features a reproduction of the famous mural "Westward the Course of Empire Takes Its Way" (titled here as "Westward Ho!") by Emanuel Leutze. The original mural is located in the U.S. Capitol. The design uniquely includes a bottom inset of Albert Bierstadt's "Golden Gate, Harbor of San Francisco." The postcard is in Fair to Good unposted condition. The front shows age-related tanning and some surface soiling. The back is clean of writing but shows several brown foxing spots and minor corner wear consistent with a card of this age. No major creases or tears.
