This listing is for an Old Vintage 19th Century German Salt Glazed Stoneware 1/2 Liter Size Lidded Beer Stein Mug. It is unmarked except for \"1/2 L\" impressed at top of front (photo 6). I believe this was made by Westerwald / Regensburg. It features 3 relief molded scenes around body. Front has 2 men toasting. The other 2 scenes are identical and have gnomes or dwarves dancing around an urn with flowers. Pewter lid with hand painted porcelain insert. The painting features the profile of a man wearing a green hat.
It is in great condition overall. Just one small bruise on top rim (photos 22 and 23; 2 views of same bruise). It gets covered by lid when closed. No other issues. All other rims and edges are perfect. Handle is securely attached with no damage. Lid and hinge fit and work perfectly. Looks clean with aged patina to pewter. Please view the photos carefully as they are my main description. *(White spots in pictures are glare / lighting from photos and not actually on the item).
It is very fragile and pretty heavy weighing over 1.5 lbsbeforepacking and will be securely packaged and double boxed.
It measures 6 3/8\" (16.3 cm) tall to top of pewter handle, 5 1/2\" (14 cm) tall to top of lid, 5\" (12.6 cm) tall to top rim, 3\" (7.7 cm) across top rim, and 3 13/16\" (9.7 cm) at the base. Please feel free to Email with any questions and be sure to check out my other glassware, pottery, and antique items. Thanks!
