DESCRIPTION
Unusual and highly decorative presentation / display box, probably associated with a patriotic or fraternal organization. Possibly from a political club or campaign organization. Likely centennial era. Eagle with ribbon, flags, arrows and shield in red, white, blue and gold, appears to be hand painted, rather than a transfer. Solid oak construction. Brass hardware. Blue and cream fabric-lined interior. Hand painted floral and arabesque decorations on five sides, including the lid. Also decorated with lightly incised rectangular and triangular geometric designs. May have held a lodge staff, ceremonial baton, flag, or other presentation object.
CONDITION
Overall very good antique condition. Structurally sound and intact. Some wear and stains to the interior fabric liner and to the fabric on the base. Some paint loss to the outside decorations. Rich, dark oak patina (all visible in the images).
