Antique Art Nouveau Majolica Vase Barbotine Floral Green European c1900 No. 07 For Sale

Striking antique Continental European Art Nouveau art pottery vase dating to approximately 1890–1910, featuring a dramatic organic form and richly glazed relief decoration. The vase has a bulbous lower body rising into a tall tapered neck, covered in a deep glossy forest green to nearly black glaze with subtle olive tonal variations. Applied and molded floral decoration encircles the lower body in pale green, cream and amber, while an unusual raised beaded tendril sweeps dramatically up the neck and joins a double row of cream-colored raised dots beneath the rim. The interior is finished in a beautiful contrasting amber/orange glaze. The sinuous botanical ornament and highly dimensional decoration are characteristic of the Art Nouveau/Jugendstil period and related European barbotine and majolica production. The underside has an unglazed foot impressed “07.” No factory mark is present, and while the piece appears Continental European, I have not found sufficient documentation to confidently assign it to a specific French, Belgian, German or Bohemian pottery.
