**Authentic Antique Late 19th Century USMC Brass Uniform Coat Button**
Up for sale is a beautiful, guaranteed authentic United States Marine Corps (USMC) uniform coat button. This is an original piece of American military history, dating from the post-Civil War / Indian Wars era (circa 1870s–1880s).
**Design & Attributes:**
* **Front Design:** Features the traditional regulation motif of an American eagle perched on a fouled anchor, encircled by 13 stars against a lined background.
* **Backmark:** Stamped "SCOVILL MFG. CO. / WATERBURY". It features the highly collectible concentric dot ring (raised dots around the wire shank), a trait typical of Scovill's premium post-Civil War manufacturing runs.
* **Size:** Measures exactly 7/8 inches (approx. 22mm) in diameter, identifying it as a standard uniform front coat button.
**Condition:**
Excellent antique "non-dug" condition. The face retains a beautiful, crisp relief with sharp details on the eagle, anchor, and stars. The original gilt finish remains bright and clean. The wire shank on the back is completely straight, secure, and intact. It has a gorgeous natural patina and has not been aggressively cleaned or polished.
