A 5.5x3.5" vintage RPPC photo postcard from the estate of a vintage automobile postcard collector. This was part of a huge collection of antique postcards.

A real photo postcard showing six young people posed in a large open touring car parked in a grassy rural field. A young man in a flat driving cap sits behind the wheel on the right-hand side, with his passengers - including a young woman in a light dress and decorative hat - arranged across the front and rear seats. The men wear the flat caps and dark suits typical of the early automobile era. The car is a substantial five to seven passenger touring model with a folded-down top, brass acetylene headlamps, brass side lamps, a large tail lamp mounted on the cowl, and distinctive artillery-style wood spoke wheels.
The vehicle appears to be a circa 1908 to 1910 mid to large size American touring car, likely a Buick, Reo, or similar big-four cylinder tourer of the period, identifiable by its round brass radiator badge, right-hand drive layout, and the folding rear-entrance tonneau body style. This image captures the excitement of early motoring when owning a touring car of this size marked real prosperity. The right-hand steering, brass fittings, and open body place this firmly in the pre-1912 automobile era. A wonderful antique image for early automobilia, transportation, and social history collectors.
