A scarce late-19th-century Victorian clear cut-glass double-arm candelabra / fairy lamp standard, manufactured under Samuel Clarke’s famous "Cricklite" patents. Designed specifically to illuminate grand formal banquet tables, this heavy, brilliant clear crystal frame highlights the peak of late Victorian table lighting design.
Design Features & Craftsmanship:• The Base & Column: The lower pedestal features a substantial, thick-walled domed foot decorated with a striking, deeply faceted 16-point cut starburst/pinwheel rosette medallion on the underside. The outer base edge is meticulously finished with broad, polished thumbprint cut facets that catch the light beautifully.• The Crossbar Arms: Spanning horizontally from the brass central collar is a completely straight, pattern-molded glass crossbar arm assembly finished in a crisp diamond herringbone design. The glass arms curve sharply upward at the ends into brass collars capped with original threaded metal mounting pins.
Condition: The glass standard remains in clear, beautiful vintage condition with nice clarity. There is a small, chip located on the stem column, which is not notable upon casual display. The brass collars show a handsome, authentic age-earned tarnish patina. This piece is being sold as a standalone foundational base unit, missing the original threaded Cricklite insert glass candle cups and protective glass domes. It serves as the perfect centerpiece component for a restoration project or a replacement base for a seasoned collector.
