CONDITION
Antique pre-owned condition with age-related wear. Small chip/loss is present at one of the pointed outer tips/edges as shown clearly in the close-up photographs. Gold/gilt decoration has wear, fading and loss throughout, particularly along the raised edges and scrollwork. Additional light surface wear, scratches/scuffs, discoloration and age-related marks are present.
Black architectural transfer remains attractive and clearly reads “ROGER WILLIAMS CHURCH, SALEM, MASS.”
No major cracks observed during inspection.
Please enlarge and review all photographs carefully. The close-up condition photographs show the actual wear and edge damage.
DESCRIPTION
Beautiful antique souvenir porcelain dish depicting Roger Williams Church in Salem, Massachusetts.
Features an unusually elaborate molded leaf-and-scroll form with dramatically curled and pointed edges, white glazed porcelain, gold/gilt accents and a finely detailed black transfer illustration of the historic church.
The underside carries a very faint, partially worn circular mark. The mark is not sufficiently legible to confidently attribute a manufacturer, so the maker is listed as unknown.
A particularly attractive piece for collectors of Salem, Massachusetts memorabilia, historic churches, Roger Williams material, New England souvenirs, antique souvenir china and early American travel memorabilia.
