Antique RS Prussia Jeweled Biscuit Barrel Melon Eaters Scene Silverplate Lid For Sale

A beautiful and unusual antique RS Prussia porcelain biscuit barrel featuring the collectible “Melon Eaters” scene, richly decorated with raised jeweled accents, elaborate gilt detailing, turquoise trim, and a wonderful period silverplate lid and swing handle.
This is far more ornate than the average antique biscuit barrel. The porcelain body has a dramatic molded form with flared feet, soft shaded colors, detailed figural transfer decoration, raised enamel-style jeweling, and extensive gold embellishment. The pastoral Melon Eaters scene is beautifully displayed on the front and gives the piece exceptional visual appeal.
The silverplate lid is topped with an ornamental finial and fitted with an elegant shaped swing handle. The metal carries EPNS marks, indicating electroplated nickel silver.
This would make a standout addition to an RS Prussia collection, antique porcelain collection, Victorian/Edwardian display, or collection of rare biscuit barrels and serving pieces.
