Antique Morimura Brothers China Bowls Nippon Japan Gold Floral Black Handpainted For Sale

This is a pair of Antique Morimura Brothers China Bowls. The bowls are hand painted and made in Japan between 1911 - 1921. They are marked Nippon which was used to mark items made in Japan until 1921. The Morimura mark, a wreath surrounding the letter “M” is on each piece. The are white bowls with handles, painted with pink flowers, embellished with gold and further highlighted in black. The larger bowl has a small black smudge (which might be beneath the glaze). Both bowls have a few tiny flecks of paint on front and back. The thin gold lower line is worn thin in spots, but it is still visible around the bowls. Smaller bowl is 7-5/8 inches wide at the handles, 7-1/8 inches in diameter excluding the handles, and about 7/8 inches deep. The larger bowl measures approximately 10 inches wide at the handles, is 9 inches in diameter excluding handles, and is 1-3/4 inches deep. The smaller bowl has a round outer edge, while the larger bowl features scalloped edges.
