- Antique small malachite casket/jewelry box featuring natural malachite panels with strong concentric banding, fitted into a darkened brass/bronze-colored metal framework.
- The malachite is composed of individually cut and fitted pieces, with pattern selection visible across the lid and sides.
- Hinged lid with period-style metal hinge and original-looking lock hardware.
- Interior lined in red silk/satin-like fabric.
- Construction and materials are consistent with antique European/Russian malachite mosaic or veneer work. Russian origin is possible but has not been conclusively established.
- An interesting example for a collector, antique box specialist, malachite collector, or restoration project.
- Comparable 19th-century Russian malachite caskets are documented in museum and sale collections.
