Antique Makassar Ebony Vishnu Riding Garuda Balinese Master Carvers Wood Statue For Sale

This Balinese hand carved Statue is beautifully detailed and dates from the 1930s-1940s. Approximately 70-80 years old. It is hand carved by a master craftsman showing beautiful facial features and overlapping feathers on the wings as well as many other finely detailed pieces. It is made from Makassar Ebony a native wood from Bali with rich color grain. Although some of the photos make it look almost black close up there is a great deal of grain and variation in the wood. (Not great lighting for photo)… The condition has a few flaws. There is a section of the right wing facing missing and Garuda’s Beak has been knocked off. It still displays pretty well despite the damage. A complete piece of this quality should be $450 to $1,000… with the damage should be 20-30% less but I am asking a lot less than that. See photos and a brief description of the piece and its significance to the Hindu tradition. It measures approximately 16-1/2” high by 9” wide by 6” deep. It is a pretty substantial carving, simply a Gorgeous piece.
