Leuchtenburg porcelain originated in Thuringia, Germany, a region renowned for its ceramic production since the 18th century. The factory, established in 1795, became known for producing high-quality porcelain, often featuring floral motifs and decorative embellishments characteristic of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These pieces were popular for both everyday use and as decorative items in middle-class homes. This particular dessert plate exemplifies the aesthetic trends of the Art Nouveau and Edwardian eras, with its hand-painted roses, scalloped edge, and ornate handles. Such plates were commonly used for serving cakes, pastries, and other desserts during formal occasions or afternoon tea. The combination of fine porcelain, detailed artistry, and functional design makes it a desirable collectible item for those interested in vintage tableware and decorative arts.
