Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible antique figural tobacco humidor jar crafted by the legendary ceramicist Johann Maresch. This striking terracotta piece is beautifully modeled as a smiling sailor or sea captain with a detailed mustache. The upper half of his cap pulls away to reveal a hollow, unglazed interior chamber originally meant to keep tobacco humidified.
The bottom features the authentic impressed \"JM\" studio factory hallmark, along with the mold number \"8895\" and a circular \"Copyrighted\" stamp. This is an incredible, authentic piece of bohemian pottery history perfect for tobacciana collectors or antique ceramic enthusiasts.
Condition:
