Traditional Japanese octagonal serving or side dish. Beautiful cobalt and ultra marine blue, indicative of traditional Japan.
The square blue character mark on the base is a stylized Fuku mark, which translates to "Good Fortune" or "Happiness". Rather than indicating a specific manufacturing family, this mark was widely utilized as an auspicious symbol on quality underglaze-blue porcelain produced in the Arita/Imari region.
The center depicts an idyllic waterside mountain landscape featuring a traditional pagoda nestled among trees. The inside upper rim is finished with an interlocking Fret or Key geometric border pattern.
The outside panels are decorated with alternating geometric medallions, floral patterns, and traditional swirling wave motifs.
Approximate Dimensions:

2 1/4" tall
