This antique hogscraper candlestick features the classic early lighting form used throughout Britain and America from circa 1780–1860. Crafted from sheet iron/tin, it includes the distinctive central brass “wedding band” ring, a detail prized by collectors for its added visual interest and period authenticity.
The candlestick retains its integrated push‑up ejector mechanism, allowing the candle to be raised as it burned down—an ingenious feature of early domestic lighting. At the top rim is the traditional small hanging hook, originally used to hang the candlestick on a chair back, bedpost, or wall peg. The piece stands on its original circular base, giving it a stable, utilitarian silhouette typical of the era.
