Antique pre-owned condition with age-related wear. Heavy natural patina, oxidation/verdigris and finish wear are present on the metal lid and collar. The clear glass base has chips/nicks along the outer edges/corners; please see close-up photos. Glass ink insert is included. Green decorative inserts are untested and material is unknown. Beautiful and unusual antique Hansa desk inkwell featuring a substantial clear glass base with a hinged, hammered metal dome lid.
The underside of the lid is marked HANSA / D.R.P. / D.R.G.M., markings associated with German/Austrian patent and registered-design protection used on period Hansa inkwells.
The domed lid has a hand-hammered appearance and is decorated with multiple ornate circular mounts containing green cabochon-style inserts. The insert material has not been tested and is therefore not represented as turquoise, glass, enamel, etc.
The original-style removable clear glass ink cup/insert is present.

This is an antique piece showing considerable age and character. The metal has substantial patina, oxidation, verdigris, discoloration and surface wear. The clear glass base has several chips/nicks along the outer edges/corners, which are photographed closely for full disclosure. There may also be additional small scratches, flea bites and imperfections consistent with age and use.
The piece has not been polished or restored, preserving its aged surface.
