A beautiful, highly detailed vintage/antique hand-carved solid wood wall plaque. This striking piece of folk art features a masterfully executed high-relief carving of a Renaissance or medieval soldier (resembling a pikeman, guard, or musketeer) dressed in traditional historical attire and holding a large halberd/polearm. The central figure stands against a uniquely shaped, textured background bordered by elegant baroque-style scrolls, rolled banner detailing, and a floral crest at the top. The warm, rich patina of the wood accentuates every chisel mark and fine detail of the armor and clothing.
