Hayden’s patented metal-forming process. The bottom retains the original impressed patent and manufacturer markings, including H.W. Hayden, patent dates and Waterbury Brass Co.Hiram Washington Hayden received his original patent in 1851 for machinery used in forming kettles and similar vessels from metal disks. Waterbury Brass Co. examples of this type are documented from the mid-19th century.Constructed of spun/form-pressed brass with a heavy swing bail handle and riveted handle mounts. The piece displays an attractive aged brass finish with surface scratches, discoloration, patina and other signs of genuine age and use.The bucket presents very nicely and retains a clearly visible manufacturer’s/patent stamp on the underside—an important feature for identification and collectibility.Condition: Good antique condition considering its age. Shows expected scratches, oxidation/patina, staining and general wear from use. Please examine all photographs closely as they are part of the description.
