Substantial gilt-brass vitrine jewel casket with French Belle Époque vocabulary. Rococo Revival scrollwork and five exceptionally thick, deeply beveled glass panels held by crimped brass teeth. Pierced corner spandrels, finely patterned borders, and scrolling cabriole feet build the architecture. We've sold quite a few similar pieces and this is a particularly well executed example in fine condition for the age.

Hinged lid with ornamental tab and diamond tufted velveteen-like cushion. The box measures approximately 5+1/4" × 5" and stands just under 4" high. The cushioned interior can display an object up to 4" × 4" × 1.75", depending on its shape. The form, materials, and design are all consistent with the turn of the 20th century, most likely French.

• Excellent overall antique condition. The beveled glass has very little wear compared to most of these, no stacking scratches, super faint aging, wear only, no chips.
• The glass is secure, with at most slight very slight movement. No broken retaining teeth on inspection.
• The hinge is complete and sound, and the lid holds open well. It rests evenly closed with a slight, even gap. The front fitting is a lift tab; the lid has no snap closure. It appears to have been designed this when when new.
• The frame and feet are sound, and the box sits level without rocking. The metalwork has normal age-related oxidation and some verdigris visible in photos, zero polishing performed.
• The tufted cushion is free of rips. Slight oxidation at some buttons has left localized marks on the fabric. Base appears to have been glued in at some point, no gaps, good sizing.
• The box is generally clean and has received a gentle wipe-down and glass cleaning only; some faint dust remains in the detailed recesses. No conservation work has been performed.
