Up for sale is an exquisite antique French porcelain dresser/trinket box, meticulously hand-painted with an armorial coat of arms crest. This stunning vanity casket was produced by the famed Samson, Edme & Cie (or Porcelaine de Paris) in France, known for creating the highest-tier revival ceramics of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The central heraldic shield is beautifully detailed and flanked by a winged griffin and a lion rampant supporter. Underneath the crest rests a flowing banner bearing the Latin motto "SPERABO" (meaning "I shall hope").
The box features a scalloped, undulating form encased in a heavy, ornate brass or bronze metal mount with a decorative twisted-rope border and a secure front clasp. The white porcelain body is further elevated by intricate raised white enamel dots (moriage style) and hand-painted floral sprigs. The underside is signed with the red artisan box mark and reads "France Hand Painted."
This is a premier find for collectors of French porcelain, heraldry, or grandmillennial and maximalist vanity decor.
