Make a grand, romantic statement in your home with this monumental antique French spelter figural sculpture, designed in the style of the legendary Auguste Moreau.
Standing an impressive 25 inches tall and weighing approximately 20 pounds, this substantial piece is a classic example of late 19th to early 20th-century French Art Nouveau decor. The sculpture depicts a heartwarming, rustic scene of a young maiden carrying a woven harvest basket while holding the hand of a small child. Cast in spelter (patinated zinc or régule) and heavily plaster-weighted for stability, the piece is finished with a beautiful, warm bronze-toned patina that highlights the intricate, flowing folds of their clothing and the ornate floral detailing on the base.
Whether anchoring a large Victorian mantelpiece or gracing a grand entryway, this sculpture brings incredible historic charm to any space.
Dimensions & Weight:
Condition:This antique sculpture presents beautifully and is in good structural condition given its age. Please Note: There is a small, approximately 3/4-inch chip on the bottom base that has been painted over by a previous owner to blend with the patina. The bronze-style finish shows some age-appropriate wear and rubbing, adding to its authentic antique character. Please review all photos closely.
