A rare and delightful piece of French table history, this antique Longwy Terre de Fer divided asparagus plate dates to the late 19th–early 20th century. Asparagus plates were a hallmark of refined French dining — the divided well designed specifically to hold fresh asparagus spears — and the Longwy pottery of northeastern France was among the most celebrated producers of this form.

This example features a charming bird motif and the warm, earthy tones characteristic of Terre de Fer [ironstone] ware.
