A wooden plow plane (also spelled"plough plane") traditionally used to cut grooves andrabbets parallel to the edge of a board, for paneling, drawerbottoms, or shiplap joints. Unmarked; maker unknown.
The turned wooden knobs holding the fence arms in place(rather than brass thumbscrews with threaded rods) suggest this is an olderor more rustic example, likely 18th–19th century, and possibly European(French or Continental) rather than a later English/American Ohio-tool-styleplow plane, which usually used brass fittings and boxwood arms with threadedadjustment screws.
In excellent working condition, iron is without nicks or breaks.
