For sale is a beautiful, highly charactered antique Mason\'s Patent Nov. 30th 1858 fruit jar in a stunning, vibrant deep purple/amethyst coloration. This 1-quart size jar stands approximately 7 inches tall and is a textbook example of late 19th-century crude glass manufacturing, dating between 1878 and 1890.This jar features excellent manufacturing flaws that collectors love, including a completely unembossed base with a heavy, dimpled \"orange peel\" texture. The vertical side mold seams show clear structural anomalies where the panels slumped inward, resulting in heavily sunken side panels. The top rim is completely authentic, displaying the frosty, rough, hand-ground finish from the original abrasive factory wheel.Please note that while the jar itself is a genuine antique mold-blown piece, the intense grape-purple color is the modern result of artificial UV/gamma irradiation. This striking coloration beautifully highlights the heavy whittling and crude nature of the antique glass. There are no major cracks or modern damage, only the typical tiny manufacturing air bubbles and factory flaking expected on a ground-lip jar of this age.
