The dog is individually painted in warm brown, cream, gray and white tones against a softly shaded neutral background. A finegold-colored rimfinishes the plate, and an artist’s monogram/signature is visible near the lower right.
The reverse bears theCreil & Montereau / Terre de Ferfactory mark. Creil and Montereau were among the important French producers offaïence fine, and the combined manufacture became especially prominent during the 19th century.
