Beautiful antique French miniature cup featuring finely detailed reddish-brown transferware decoration depicting a classically dressed figure in a pastoral landscape.
The central illustration shows a standing figure wearing draped garments, surrounded by trees and landscape details. The design has a lovely neoclassical quality, with delicate linework and a simple dark border around the upper and lower edges of the cup.
The underside features an especially interesting printed French backstamp reading “STONE COQUEREL ET LE GROS” and “PARIS,” surrounded by additional lettering referencing a Paris address.
The cup has a simple cylindrical body with a slender curved handle and warm cream-colored glaze. Its small proportions make it particularly appealing for display alongside antique French pottery and early European transferware.
Measurements: Approximately 2.25” wide × 2.5” tall.
Condition: Antique condition with age-related discoloration, surface wear, and small marks to the glaze and transfer decoration. Wear is visible along the rim and underside. Please review all photographs carefully for condition details.
A lovely and distinctive piece for collectors of antique French ceramics, brown transferware, neoclassical decoration, and miniature pottery.
The underside bears the original printed mark of Stone, Coquerel & Le Gros, Paris, together with an impressed CREIL factory mark and additional impressed production marks. The combination identifies this as an early 19th-century French Creil coffee can, likely dating to approximately 1810–1820. Comparable marked examples are documented in the National Trust collection in England.
