Antique Cellulid Advertising Paperweight F.M. McClelland & Co. Reversable Face For Sale

This is a 6-ounce, 3-inch Celluloid Advertising paperweight/memorandum for the F. M. McClelland & Co. Merchants Exchange located in St. Louis, Missouri. F. M. McClelland & Co. was a grain merchant and commission house located at 112 N. 4th Street in the Merchants Exchange in St. Louis, Missouri in the early 1900's. This item features a comic-style two-faced or reversible illustration, often smiling or crying/sad face gag common in turn-of-the century advertising. The text reads, "I'M HAPPY I SHIP MY GRAIN TO F. M. McCLELLAND & CO. MERCHANTS EXCHANGE ST. LOUIS" on one side. On the reverse it reads "I'M SORRY I WILL IN FUTURE (Erasable Pencil Memo on Other Side)". On the back side there is a space for an erasable pencil memo to be written. Celluloid was popularly used from the late 1890's through the 1920's.
