Antique Burmese Silver Tea Caddy Cylindrical Box Repousse Figural Scene 19thC For Sale

Up for sale is a beautiful antique cylindrical tea caddy (canister), heavily decorated with high-relief hand-hammered repoussé work. Based on the styling of the figures, their traditional headdresses, the arched cartouches, and the dense scrolling foliage background, this piece is of Burmese (Myanmar) or Anglo-Indian regional origin, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.
The interior showcases the deep, authentic negative impressions from the artisan hammering the design out by hand from the inside. The exterior has developed a rich, dark antique patina that emphasizes the incredible detail of the figural scenes.
