Antique Berlin Porcelain Tureen KPM Attributed Bacchus Putto Hogarth Scenic 13” For Sale

Exceptional antique covered porcelain tureen / centerpiece, attributed to Berlin KPM based on the form, decoration, Bacchic putto finial, molded border, and faint underglaze blue mark to the underside. Attribution has not been independently authenticated. This impressive piece features a large rounded porcelain body with fitted domed lid, richly decorated with detailed figural scenes, colorful floral sprays, gilt trim, and a molded basketweave / Alt-Ozier-style border. The lid is topped by a striking Bacchus-style putto finial, shown kneeling with a raised gilt cup, grape decoration in his hair, and a small vessel at his side. The painted figural decoration includes lively banquet and social scenes strongly reminiscent of William Hogarth’s “A Midnight Modern Conversation,” a subject known on Berlin KPM porcelain. The tureen is accompanied by an ornate adjustable gilt-metal four-foot stand, which displays the piece beautifully. The stand is included with the sale but is described as associated rather than definitively original to the tureen.Details* Antique covered porcelain tureen / centerpiece
